MY THOUGHTS
I received a copy of the Disney The Hunchback Of Notre Dame 2-Movie Collection on Blu-ray. I haven’t seen Hunchback in many years, as we’d last owned it on VHS and that broke. Being able to watch it again on Blu-ray was almost like watching it for the first time all over again – everything seemed so much criper and the colors more true. The Hunchback Of Notre Dame is a movie about being different, and how society treats those that are different. Quasimodo is an orphan that is kept in a bell tower by the evil Frollo, the man that killed his mother. Quasimodo’s only companions are the gargoyles of the bell tower. When Quasimodo does finally venture out of the tower he is picked on and shunned because simply because of his physical appearance. Quasimodo has a good heart and a kind soul, but people don’t know that because they can’t get past his outward appearance. Esmerelda is a gypsy that helps Quasi and eventually befriends him. Frollo is very taken by her. When Esmerelda refuses Frollo’s advances he gets angry and orders her death by burning at the stake. The race is on.Will Quasi be able to free himself from the tower and save Esmerelda? And will he continue life in the tower? You’ll have to watch for yourself to find out. I can say this. As someone who was picked on as a teen, I felt his pain. As mother of a child with special needs this movie really hits home.
Here’s a clip from Hunchback called A Guy Like You.

I haven’t watched Hunchback II yet but am looking forward to seeing how the story continues. Here’s a clip from Hunchback II called What’s Your Name.
