ABOUT 15 MINUTES OUTSIDE
What if you got outside every day, and what if you could get your kids to come along? It sounds modest, but the effects, as dynamic outdoor spokesperson Rebecca Cohen herself can testify, are profound. This inspiring collection of activities gives families an idea for every day of the year, requiring little planning, no expertise and relatively little resources (time, cash, or patience!), no matter where they live. Simple and inspiring, this book is bursting with hundreds of easy ways to get your family out into nature a little bit every day.
MY THOUGHTS
I received a copy of 15 Minutes Outside. This isn’t the kind of book that you have to sit and red all at once. This book is great for picking up for quick ideas as well as for planning activities for a period of time. The book is organized by month, meaning you’ll find activities like lemonade stands under August and snow activities under months like January and February. There is one idea for each day of each month. Of course, thanks to geographical differences, there’s also no reason you can’t go into a month to look for activities before that month arrives. An example would be if you live in Montana where my friend Jennifer is moving, where they get snow in September. Even in my busiest of days I can find a fifteen minute window, which is what makes this book so great – the activities are all family friendly and fun, don’t cost an arm and a leg (if they cost anything) and don’t take hours. These activities are a great way for busy parents and busy children to spend some quality time together. If you’ve ever heard your kids say “there’s nothing to do” or thought “what ever will we do”, this book is for you. It’d also make a great gift for other parents. I’m looking forward to bringing this book on our summer camping vacation, as the area where we camp is rather remote and there aren’t tons of structured activities.
