I was very excited to see Jamie and Kurt doing well early on in the race. Most of the drivers in the Chase for the Cup caught action in one form or another. This is how the Chase drivers ran.
12. Matt Kenseth finished 34th due to a bad battery and 3 crashes.
11. Martin Truex Jr. finished 17th.
10. Jeff Burton finished 4th.
9. Denny Hamlin had a gear problem and finished 20th.
8. Kevin Harvick suffered several tire problems and finished 33rd.
7. Kurt Busch finished 26th. He had a pit road accident with Mark Martin and later appeared to not be running on all cylinders.
6. Kyle Busch finished 3rd.
5. Carl Edwards finished 5th.
4. Tony Stewart finished 7th. He was involved in a pit road accident with Kasey Kahne.
3. Clint Bowyer finished 2nd.
2. Jimmie Johnson spun out and damaged a fender yet managed to finish 14th.
1. Jeff Gordon won the race, despite a very inappropriate shove to Dale Earnhardt Jr..
I don’t like Jeff Gordon but do admit he has talent. I was very unhappy at the end of the race, because of what happened to Jamie and Kurt, and because of who won. But I’m sure whatever I was feeling was nothing compared to what some of the drivers were feeling after last nights race.
