After seven months of deployment supporting the war on terror the USS Abraham Lincoln has finally come home. My brother disembarked today and although we’re thousands of miles apart it is so good to know that he and his 3500 or so other shipmates are home. My Mom went to watch the ship come in this morning and telephoned me to tell me that television news crews (she thought from Fox) were there. I doubt any of that footage would be shown here on the East Coast but I was able to find the picture below of the ship coming into San Diego on the website for CW’s Channel 6 in San Diego. I’m so glad that the ship is home safely. Yes my brother is on the ship and I do mean him, but I mean all of the other sailors as well. They have chosen to stand up for this country and they don’t get nearly enough thanks and recognition for what they do. In case you’re wondering, yes this picture also made me cry.
