My house has both a kitchen and a formal dining room. The kitchen is about 12×12 including cabinets, chest freezer and table and chairs for four so it’s pretty small. The dining room is directly next to the kitchen and is about 12×16 or so. It’s got a six foot table in it. The table was my Grandma’s. Recently while on a venture into the attic, my Dad found the leaves for my dining room table. Yes, that was leaves plural, as in two. The dining room table is now about nine foot long. We’ve got the four chairs the set came with, and another three chairs that are office furniture that they were getting rid of from my current job and my last job. What does a small ranch home need a kitchen and a formal dining room for? It’s silly. My grandparents had this had this house built and there was only two of them. There’s only four of us and we’re just everday people, what do we need a formal dining room for? Someday I’d like to knock down the wall between the two and turn the whole thing into a giant California type kitchen. So what about you, do you have a kitchen, a dining room or both?
