Worst Cooks In America
If you happen to have be a long-time reader then you might recall a story I shared back in 2008 of my first cooking disaster. If you don’t recall or haven’t been a reader that long, I’ll quickly fill you in. Back in eighth grade, at the tender age of 11, I had to cook a meal as part of an international project. The meal I chose to cook was a favorite then and still – pork egg foo young, won ton soup and pork fried rice. I prepared the meal alone, following the cookbook instructions and receiving no help from adults. When the family sat down to eat I witnessed coughing, puckering mouths, retching and vomiting. I cried. The fiasco fully qualified as a cooking disaster, and had I been an adult it surely would have put me in line to be a candidate on “Worst Cooks In America.”
Worst Cooks In America is a competition series that airs on Food Network television. This is the sixth season, and it contains seven episodes. The series begins with fourteen candidates, split into two teams led by chefs Anne Burrell and Tyler Florence. The two professional chefs lead their team members through a cooking bootcamp. There are challenges each week, the least successful competitors go home while the others continue on to the next week.
“Welcoming a new roster of Worst Cooks is an annual tradition, and our viewers love watching their comical kitchen mishaps evolve into serious cooking chops,” said Bob Tuschman, General Manager and Senior Vice President, Food Network. “Anne and Tyler are both fiercely competitive and determined to whip their contenders into tip-top culinary shape, and the transformations are remarkable.”

In the season premiere, the candidates are divided into Team Anne and Team Tyler and present a signature dish. In lesson one, recruits must make the ultimate romantic meal. Anne’s red team tackles Roasted Chicken with Israeli Couscous and Pomegranate Sauce, while Tyler’s blue team makes Chateaubriand with Mashed Potatoes and Roasted Mushrooms. Upcoming episodes feature a food trivia game, international taco themed competition and a breakfast menu challenge with special guest, Good Morning America Chief Meteorologist and resident foodie Ginger Zee. The season culminates in a finale on Sunday, February 15th at 9pm ET/PT where the most improved recruit is awarded a $25,000 grand prize.
Worst Cooks In America returns to Food Network television with its Season 6 premiere on Sunday, January 4th at 9pm ET/PT.

  1. Every time I cook it’s a disaster LOL. I have killed more perfectly good dishes than I care to admit.

  2. Oh boy! Toughest time of the year for me hearing about all this meat, as I love animals and am vegan. That said, yes when I was a kid learning how to cook, I once used baking soda instead of powder and an entire batch of blueberry muffins was … pretty much ruined. I mean REALLY salty.

  3. This sounds like an interesting show that I will have to check out. I have had a cooking disaster before it was mushroom gravy over baked chicken . I had made it for my boyfriend which turned into my husband. Anyway the chicken was so dry but the gravy was delicious. Thanks for sharing.
