Fact is fact. Most kids hate receiving clothes as gifts. I remember all my children looking at their piles of wrapped presents under he Christmas tree then squeezing before opening then tossing anything remotely suspected of being wearable aside. No apparel whatsoever had been included on their lists to Santa.
Recently I asked middle granddaughter if she would like to accompany me clothes shopping. Imagine my surprise when this eight year old eagerly agreed. Imagine my even greater surprise when I asked her to make her wish list and #1 on it was clothes. Know what her nickname is? The Fashionista – because of her taste and style.
With school and her birthday close at hand, Best Daughter (safely said because she is my one and only–the rest are sons) asked me to give The Fashionista a box of goodies.I should have expected her to go crazy wish its contents – high end, sophisticated, stylist yet tastefully modest sportswear–cheetah print bottoms, matching short sleeved hot pink knit top lined with cheetah announcing in glitter I Love Mizrahi, and a long sleeve hot pink knit top complete with a black sequenced heart.

Take it from me these pieces were designer nirvana – cutting edge New York fashion trend setting pieces that stand out rather than wear out. I checked construction – good cloth, sturdy seams, quality detail and workmanship. Best thing to me was that they are machine washable (just follow the directions on the label).
The Fashionista should be a model. Mizrahi’s bold colorful collection works mixing or matching. Thank you, Isaac Mizrahi, for making a girls’ collection for young ladies appropriate to their age.
The Fall 2013 Isaac Mizrahi New York Girls collection is now in stores and the price points range from $25-$100.
