This is a photo of the beach in Seaside, about 10 minutes from me house. Doesn’t it look peaceful?

A Color Guard marching across the peaceful beach on a Friday night would probably seem unusual to most.

A table for one set up in the middle of the beach would probably seem unusual to most.

A bonfire burning in the middle of a peaceful beach might or might not seem unusual. When most people think of bonfires on the beach I bet they think of a party. This fire was no party.

This is my Dad. Every year my father leads a Watchfire on the beach for the Sons Of The American Legion. I am so proud of him for dedicating himself to such a worthy cause.

This past Friday, September 21, was National POW / MIA Recognition Day. We should always remember what some soldiers have given for us, and never stop trying to bring them all home. Let’s make sure that every family that’s lost someone gets some peace and closure. so that maybe their hearts and minds will finally be as peaceful as that empty beach.
