We just returned from vacation in upstate New York. One thing I notice every time that I take a long trip is that sometimes the signs are poorly placed. On major highways you’ll often see signs a mile or so ahead of time alerting you to food, gas and lodging. But what isn’t always clear are some of the exit signs. Sometimes when there are lots of turns onto different secondary highways the sign is literally right after the turn. In unfamiliar territory there have been one or two times where I turned at / just before the sign and it turned out to be too soon. Maybe they ought to consider putting words like “TURN NOW” instead of just the name.
