My eTrade quarterly statement arrived in today’s mail. My account rose $20.92. Care to know what that staggering amount did for me? I’ll tell you. It brought my balance up to -$1.08. Yes, that’s negative. Pretty depressing considering I opened that account over five years ago. I had a little money and caught a stock taking off so I bought a bunch. How would I have guessed that the company would do so poorly that their stock would be delisted. I also bought a couple shares in a racetrack company, simply because I love Cup racing.
I should have never attempted the stock market without some help. I should have considered going to something like The Wealth Expo, an investment conference being held next week in New York. The conference runs for three days as follows.
Friday 10/19/07 from 1 pm to 6:30 pm est, cocktail hour to follow.
Saturday 10/20/07 from 9 am to 6:30 pm edt, cocktail hour to follow.
Sunday 10/21/07 from 9 am to 4 pm edt, no cocktail hour.
An investor would benefit from any or all of these, but I myself would probably gain a lot from the Friday session. Several seminars including “Making Money in the Markets Is Not That Difficult- We Will Show You How” and “Tax Free Wealth Accumulation” sound like something a new investor needs to know.
And “Chasing the American Dream” would probably benefit anyone who is chasing their dream of being financially independent and/or wealthy. I truly wish I could listen to Friday’s Keynote Speaker Jean Chatzky, a well known personal finance expert and author who teaches strategies to pay off debt, improve credit and build personal wealth. I know there is a lot I could learn in that area. Wealth Expo is sponsored by MyWallSt.net: Your Financial Social Network.
