This is a spinoff from Arrow and The Flash, but Legends of Tomorrow is the most comic-booky of the current slate of superhero TV shows. You won’t find the “realism” you will find in the other two, so if that is what you are looking for this isn’t for you. But if you are looking for fun, then get comfortable, because this delivers in quantity.
We start in the year 2166, an immortal warlord called Vandal Savage destroys the last hope of resistance and conquers the planet under his rule. Rip Hunter, a member of the Time Lords, an organization dedicated to police time itself, has his wife and child murdered by the tyrant. Asking his employers for help overthrowing Savage’s rule before it starts, he is denied, so he is forced to gather a group of special individuals from the 21st century in order to build himself a group of heroes to find Savage and put an end to his tyranny by any means necessary.
Hunter gathers a very particular group: an assassin (White Canary), an armored scientist (the Atom), a thief (Captain Cold), a pyromaniac (Heatwave), a couple of warriors (Hawkman and Hawkgirl) and a physicist and a student / atomic man (both halves of Firestorm). It’s a pretty motley crew, and it reminds a lot of old Super Nintendo role-playing games, especially Chrono Trigger, with the fact he has the ability to time travel. All of them agree, for different reasons, to help Hunter reach his goal. This goes especially for Hawkman and Hawkgirl, as both have ties to Savage, whose immortality is tied to their lives.
Unlike other superhero shows, this one has a very particular goal set, which enables the series to take more risks and go to places where other series won’t dare. They show this instantly by reversing your expectations several times on the first episode alone. I am sure if you are a fan of the DC Comics you will be pleased and if you haven’t gotten into the DC Comics, this may be where you will want to start. Don’t miss out!

My husband would love to watch this. He is a huge fan of DC comics since he was a kid! I am getting this blu-ray copy for him. Thanks for the teaser.
My husband and brother in law would love this one too! I might have to pick up a few copies.
i love DC comics. this looks like it’s going to be awesome. i can’t wait to watch it with my kids.
In its Golden days I devoured Marvel and DC comics. Wish that films would spark the return to paper reads.
