Technology is a wonderful thing. We can use it for all sorts of things, and it’s become a big part of daily life for many people. We’re learning how to use technology earlier in life. Many parents used to wonder if their child needed a mobile phone. Now, many parents wonder at what age they should allow their child to have one. Suddenly, it seems like everyone in the house is using a phone.

How many of you have multiple people at a dinner table texting, checking Facebook, reading email or answering a phone call? How many of you look towards the desk in the kitchen or living room to find your child playing games on the computer instead of doing homework? Maybe you’ve discovered that your child is surfing the web long after he or she should have been asleep. What can you do?
OmBox
OmBox presents parents with a simple solution to help manage and control the amount of time and access that children have to the internet. OmBox is a hardware/app combination that blocks and monitors internet access to better assist parents who are raising children in the information age.
OmBox enables you to monitor, control and block internet usage from devices including:

  • Laptops
  • Kindle
  • iPad or iPod
  • XBox Live
  • Smartphones

OmBox is easy to implement as there is no software to load. To get started, all you need to do is plug OmBox into your router. That’s it. There is nothing to install. Once connected, you can set up the controls you want to put in place. Worried about the amount of time your child is online? OmBox will let you set a daily limit on internet use. You can also choose to completely turn access off at certain times, such as dinner and bedtime.
OmBox
One of the really attractive features of OmBox is that you can establish different limits and policies for each child. You can specify which apps you want to block on what device, and you can set the rules to be different for each child. Other limits you can put into place include controlling your child’s access to the internet (wired or wifi) on any device. Don’t want your child using certain websites or certain apps? OmBox enables you to completely block specific sites, specific apps and even cellular access.
OmBox handles all of the controls and limits from one simple iOS or Android mobile application. OmBox is available to download on Android Smart Phones, iPhones and iPads. Aside from the controls and limits you can set, OmBox also makes it possible for you to see exactly what sites your child has been on and what apps they have used.
OmBox is a timely solution for today, as it will help parents teach children to respect the internet while also helping parents feel a bit more secure in knowing what their child is doing on the internet at any given time.
Here’s a brief video that explains OmBox a bit better.

You can learn more on the OmBox website. You can also keep up with OmBox on Facebook and on Twitter.

  1. Oh I think this is something I could for sure use. My kids are always on all the devices and I would love to make sure I’m extra on top of everything.

  2. This is a terrific product. I think every household needs one. I would block internet access after a certain time so my teenage daughter won’t be on her phone all night.

  3. While we’re a ways away from needing this, it’s great to know this is out there. I’ll pass this on to my brother who has a 7-year old and might be needing this. Thanks!

  4. Oh my goodness, this is just fabulous. I hate having to be the bad guy and tell the kids when to get off, so this would make my life so much easier.

  5. OmBox sounds like a great way for parents to monitor and control what their kids are doing online. I will share this with my friends with kids.
