Find Fun Family Vacations At Nickelodeon Experience at Azul Hotels In Riviera Maya, Mexico

I love family vacations. For me they are the very best kind. Recently a new family resort experience was unveiled and I was invited to spend a few days there to check it out. The experience that I speak of is the Nickelodeon Experience, a partnership between Nickelodeon and Azul Hotels by Karisma. I’d like to share my experience with you, along with a great deal.
Picture this.

You arrive at the resort, which seemingly rises from the beach out of nowhere at the end of a long road flanked on both sides by tall grass.

Upon entering the resort you are immediately greeted and escorted into what may be the loveliest lobby you have ever seen.

You are welcomed with a cool and refreshing towel and a green Slime smoothie. You know that you are in for a real treat when you are presented with a pillow menu and a scent menu. The pillow menu is a selection of five different types of pillows, and you choose whichever one you will sleep most comfortable with.  Similarly, you also choose an aromatherapy scent for your room. After that you’ll probably want to go to your room briefly, to either unwind from the trip or to change and head out for a fun day depending on the time of day.



There is a variety of different types of rooms ranging from a regular room to a family suite to a swim-up suite and several others as well. The junior suites and family suites have adjoining doors available if you are part of a larger group or family and have two rooms.

The rooms are beautifully decorated and lack for nothing. And when I say they lack for nothing, I mean it. Parents traveling with infants and young toddlers, here are just a few of the things you don’t need to pack – stroller, crib, pack & play playpen, changing table, bottle warmer, booster seat, and baby monitor. As beautiful and well-equipped as your room is, you are ready for some fun and adventure!
What to do?

There’s plenty of things to do for everyone!



Kids be thrilled to know that they can do their own thing! Kids age four to twelve can go to Azulitos Kids Club. Children under age four require a nanny, which incurs a $15 an hour charge. While at Azulitos kids can make new friends, play with toys and play games. There are also character meet and greets as well. Your child will love dancing with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!

Or, maybe the kids would prefer to hang out with the rest of the family by one of the many resort pools. The resort has plenty of places to relax under the sun, including chaise lounges made just for children.

Or, the family can reserve a cabana on the beach, where you can all enjoy the scenery and the breeze along with a beverage that the attentive beach butler will gladly bring you. The beach is breathtaking. If you enjoy water activities there are some available, including paddleboarding, snorkeling and kayaking.

The children can play on a beachfront playground and even do crafts right on the beach!

If you’ve watched Nick for some time then you probably remember when people were slimed. Guests can actually get slimed if they want!

Guests can also do thing like volleyball, play ping pong and shuffleboard.

Perhaps you’re into thinking games, such as chess? If that’s the case you’ll have a blast playing on the giant chess board.
After a busy day you are sure to have worked up an appetite. There is no shortage of meal options at the all-inclusive Nickelodeon Experience at Azul Beach. A number of things that aren’t generally included at some places are included at Azul Beach. Room service is included. The mini-bar in your room is included. Unlimited trips to the Spongebob Ice Cream Bar “Scoop” are included! Beverages at restaurants and bars are even included, with the exception of the optional Tequila tasting event that is held at the Agavero Tequila Lounge twice a week. There are several restaurants on the property, three of which are open for dinner only and are a great way to experience gourmet dining at its finest. There were so many choices when it comes to food that I thought it deserved a post of it’s own, so be sure to watch From Val’s Kitchen for a post on dining while enjoying the Nickelodeon Experience. All of the restaurants have gluten-free options. Speaking of food, parents will be interested to know that Gerber baby food is available at all restaurants.

Now imagine the sun is slowly setting over the coast. The cabanas on the beach are closed. What to do next? Why not hit the Orange Carpet!


This weekly event gives resort guests, particularly children, the opportunity to interact with their favorite characters up close.

I loved watching the kids faces as they danced with SpongeBob SquarePants, Patrick, Dora, Boots, and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Aside from The Orange Carpet there is also different nightly entertainment as well.

The resort offers nightly turn-down service, so at the end of the evening when you return to your room after a day of swimming and a night of dancing you will find it ready for bed, complete with a little candy to remind you of the sweet memories you’re making during your stay.


After a sound nights sleep on the pillow you selected you’ll wake up ready to take on a new day. What better way for the family to start the day off then with a Character Breakfast! There is an additional fee for this but if your kids are fans of the Nick characters you’ll find it worth every penny. While you dine the characters will take pictures with your kids and sing and dance.

If you prefer to let the kids sleep in, or are traveling without kids, early morning and late evening is especially beautiful on the beach. Be sure to take the opportunity to watch a sunrise or sunset.

If you really need to unwind, head on over to the Vassa Spa. The services there are optional but I must mention that I found the pricing to be more than reasonable for the amazing service. I had a massage that left me so relaxed I thought I might fall asleep on the table.

Or, maybe you’re into fitness. If that’s the case you’ll be delighted with the exercise and fitness room!
I had an amazing time at the Azul Beach Hotel. To me it’s got a small resort feel that offers a lot. If you’re into a larger resort feel, the Nickelodeon Experience is also available at the Azul Sensatori, the sister hotel to the Azul Beach. Just a few minutes down the road, Sensatori offers all that the Beach offers and more. We did not stay at Azul Sensatori but did take a very comprehensive tour, so watch for a post on that resort soon.
The Nickelodeon Experience surpassed my expectations and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I would love to bring my whole family there. Even better, it would be a great place for an extended family vacation or family reunion. The resort is a great choice for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries and other occasions and events.
