Have you ever made a decision that you regretted? You know, one of those decisions where you could have chosen something else and didn’t and you were really sorry? I’ve had a couple of them. One memory that really stands out in my mind (and my parents) is one involving my high school senior prom.
I never had any romantic relationships with any of my high school classmates. Some bullied me. Others ignored me. And yet, when prom season came around, I still wanted to go. A couple of months before the prom I decided to ask a handsome boy named Rob that I really liked from my neighborhood if he’d go to the prom with me. My Mom warned me not to ask someone to go so far in advance, in case something happened or in case I changed my mind. As is the case with many teenagers, I ignore my MOm’s suggestions. After all, Rob and I were great friends. We hug out together. We went snow shoveling together and made money. Why would I change my mind? So I asked. And Rob accepted.
And so I had a date for the prom. And yet, for some reason, I finally figured out that Rob didn’t like me the same way I liked him. And I thought that maybe since he didn’t like me romantically it would be better if I went with another boy. Jim was another boy that I knew from my town. He was cute in a bad boy kind of way. And so one afternoon I asked Jim to go to the prom. He said yes.
Here I am at the top of the world. I have boys falling at my feet (well not literally but it makes me feel better now when I look back). I had my pretty cream colored gown and I was set to go. Until Rob and Jim had a little chat. How I could not have seen that coming is beyond me. I knew they knew each other. One was from my neighborhood and one hung out in my neighborhood.
Anyway. When they both found out I’d asked the other they both said they wanted no part of it. Less than two weeks before prom night and I had no date. What’s a girl to do?
Well, a girl in this situation does the only thing that they can do. They ask their cousin to be their date.
Asking two boys to go to my senior prom is something I did regret. I believe that we all have decisions that we regret. Some are simply more embarrassing than others. It would have been nice if the two boys were as understanding as Verizon. While neither one stopped talking to me completely, things were just never the same with either one after that.

I think everyone has at least one – if not more – switcher’s remorse stories in their lives. It’s just a part of living.
Ha, ha, ha… YES! Many decisions I wish I could have made differently. I mean, in high school we all thought with our emotions, not our brains…
I think all of us have regrets. I have many regrets from my high school days also, glad they are behind me and just pray my kids do not make the same foolish mistakes I made.
I have made a million decisions that I could call regrets, but refuse since they were all learning experiences. We have actually been loyal Verizon customers for years and are not even considering switching.
I have a number of decisions I regret. Ironically, the one that pops into my head first is about two boys and dating too! ha!
I’m sure we have all made some decisions that we have regretted. I have for sure. We all learn from those mistakes though, so it’s okay. Things work out in the end.

I try not to regret my decisions. Some of them are hard not to regret lol. My choice in boys when i was younger is one.
My prom was full of regrets. Starting with my shoes. Heels are not made for dancing!

Oh no! I’m glad that you at least still got to go! I never even went to my senior prom. I got drunk instead. I regret that. lol
Perhaps it’s far and few in between the amount of people that can honestly say they have no regrets about something in their life. Yes, I hav a few. But, all has not turned out so bad.
I try not to have regrets, I think everything is an opportunity to learn and grow. I didn’t got to my Senior prom….I suppose that could be a regret 🙂
I think we all have decisions we regret. I had not heard of this program from Verizon before sounds like a good one.
I think we all make choices that we regret. However, moving forward with better choices always helps.
Funny thing back in high school it was my aunt’s son (by a previous marriage) who I had a big crush on who took me to my senior prom.
Love this story. Reminded me of my prom. My best friend had asked her neighbor who she had been friends with for years and he accepted. Sometime between her asking him and the prom, he and I started dating. He kept his promise to go with her (although we all went in a group) and I ended up with a blind date! My friend got really mad though because not only did her date bring her flowers, but he also brought some for me.
Oh man is that kinda funny but awful! At least you can look back at it now and chuckle.
Learn and keep living I guess. That is a really funny story.
