Cold weather has arrived here at the Jersey shore! In the blink of an eye we went from sweating to freezing. This weekend or next I’ll be going through my youngest son’s clothes. We check for wear and tear and fit. Anything for spring, summer or fall that no longer fits leaves. Anything we keep gets washed and stored after I rearrange the dresser drawers. This year my son went through a little growth spurt and outgrew his coat. My son doesn’t grow out of clothes quickly. Usually he wears them out first. When I was young down coats always seemed to be like a foot high. They kept you warm but if you were a child or teen you hated to wear them because you felt like the Michelin man and couldn’t easily move around while you were wearing them. That isn’t the case any more.
The Downlight Hoodie you see above is a size XL and it’s the Cinder Sapphire color. The coat has a 100% nylon shell with a StormRepel® durable water repellent (DWR) finish to help it push moisture away. The inner insulating layer is made of 650 fill Premium Down. I love, love, love that the coat is machine washable. Because we’re always spilling something, or so it seems. The coat has zippered pockets, to help keep your little one’s hands warm or stow their favorite toy away safely from the elements.

The MicroTherm Hoodie you see above is also a size XL and it’s the Ascent Blue & Fossil Limeade color. This coat has a Recycled polyester shell with polyester/spandex shoulder panels, so that your child can keep right on playing outdoors without having a bulky coat restrict their movement. Like the Downlight, it also has a StormRepel® durable water repellent (DWR) finish to help keep moisture away from the coat and off of your child. The inner insulating layer of this coat is also made of 650 fill Premium Down to help keep your little one warm. As was also the case with the Downlight, the MicroTherm is machine washable.

Both of the Eddie Bauer jackets that we received are surprisingly light in weight while offering considerable warmth. Both of these coats look terrific. The MicroTherm is a tiny bit lighter then the Downlight, but both are really, really lightweight. Each of the coats look stylish without sacrificing functionality or warmth. Both of the coats fit my son very well. Sleeves are a great length, they’re long enough to come down over his wrists. If you’re looking for quality outerwear for your child be sure to give Eddie Bauer a look.

Ours do complain, but I’d rather them complain about the weight than being cold. Love the colors on that one!
I have no children to complain about heavy coats–But I am always complaining for myself. I will definitely have to check out Eddie Bauer for adult winter coats.
Since we’re in the South it doesn’t get terribly cold here; The kids have never complained about their coats, but then again, I think the heaviest material I’ve bought was wool. I love that hoodie! The color and material looks so cool! I’ll bet my teen son would go crazy over it!
What a nice jacket! We are in Montana right now and the first winter storm just hit us. The coat I have for here is on the heavy side. I would like a light weight one that is also warm.
I really need to get a jacket for my son. Its not as cold as it is NJ but for me anything below 70 is so cold. Your son is very handsome and the blue looks great on him.
Not to my recollection as they had different ones for cold, colder, and coldest temps.
My girls won’t wear anything that is to heavy. They would rather freeze and look cool than be warm. LOL
