We received Switchcrafted: The Story of the Switch Witches of Halloween, written by Audrey Kinsman with Pam Hatcher and illustrated by Milena Kirkova. It includes a hardcover book, a witch, and a trick or treat bag. This is the Halloween version of Elf on the Shelf. You open the box to find a very cute witch with a rolled up trick or treat bag and the book place in a sleeve. I tried to get the witch out and it was attached to the box with wire twist ties that were underneath the background so it I had to cut her out so I didn’t ruin the box.

The book is very colorful and creatively written. It goes into a story about witches and how they need candy to help keep their houses warm and to keep the magic happening. So the witches make a deal with all the good girls and boys to switch out their candy for toys. The concept is very very cute. My son who is not allowed to have a lot of sugar said oh mom can I do that, I of course said yes. At the end of the book you can name your witch. Ours of course is named Elsa.

There is one grammar/spelling error that I had to read over again to make sure I wasn’t reading it wrong. “Your Witch is ok with you keeping a few pieces of loot, But eat is all up and she’ll leave nary a neat.” All in all it’s a great story and a very cute way to get kids to not eat so much candy.
How do you limit the amount of candy your children eat at Halloween?

Limit the amount of candy by hiding it in a place you know they won’t find it.
I handle all the candy so they don’t go wild!
I’m the keeper of the candy 🙂 It’s only for special occasions
After they have a few pieces i put it away until after diner the next day.
I limit the candy my kids eat by hiding it from him.
I limit it by telling him he can have 2 pieces. Then, once he is in bed, I hid the candy hoping he forgets about it 🙂 If he doesn’t, he can have a piece here or there for dinner. Julie smartsavvymama@gmail.com
i limit it by not buying any extra junk around the holidays, there will be plenty else around without me buying it.
I let them have some candy for an hour which they will only eat maybe six pieces each. Then I use the rest for rewards and they are both happy lol I have two daughters they are 7 and 8 yrs old
I have them ask me before they eat it if it’s okay to have a snack.
I only let them have 1 piece or package a day.
Oh that’s easy- my daughter isn’t much of a candy eater. She likes cookies but she’ doesn’t really eat a ton of them either.
They get to eat a few on the first night, then it’s one piece every couple of days
My kids have 5 on halloween and 5 to enjoy over the next week and donate the rest to school for the prize box in their classroom.
