British Sterling Men's Cologne
My hubby does custodial work for a living. Every day before he leaves for work he showers and puts on some cologne. And every day he walks past me on his way out the door and I feel ill. I don’t know what it is. It’s happened with a couple of different sprays that were marketed more to teens and young men. Young is something my hubby just isn’t. He’s over 50. He’s a man.
Is it the cologne? Is it the packaging? Is it a combination of both? I have no idea, but whatever it is it just makes me feel sick. This didn’t always happen, only over the past year or so. Now, when he sees my face on his way out the door he sometimes gets a little touchy, and sarcastically asks if I’d prefer he smell like one of the toilets he has to clean. Of course I wouldn’t. But I would prefer he wore something that didn’t make me nauseous. When offered the opportunity to check out some new men’s cologne I jumped at the chance.
British Sterling is a name that I remember from my childhood. No surprise considering they sold over 50 million bottles.  They’re back now and they’ve brought two new scents with them – H.I.M. Reserve and H.I.M. Private Stock.

  • British Sterling H.I.M. ‘Reserve’ — a provocative oriental blend of fresh citruses, bold spices and sensual woods
  • British Sterling H.I.M. ‘Private Stock’ — which showcases fresh citruses combined with crisp woods, aromatic spices and rich undertones

The colognes are very different from one another, with each having its own distinct scent. I prefer the Reserve, as I prefer it’s citrusy fresh scent over the slightly musky Private Stock. As is not uncommon in our house, hubby’s opinion was the opposite – he prefers the Private Stock. I can say that when wearing these he smells like a man should smell, as opposed to smelling like one of the kids. Both of the scents are refined, and enough that you might expect them to be expensive. But they aren’t. British Sterling H.I.M. Reserve and H.I.M. Private Stock retail for only $24.95. The affordable price and unique scent make them a great gift idea for the special man in your life.
Brooke Sterling, the fragrance’s spokesperson, has put together a brief “instructional” video teaching men how to make #SterlingChoices. Take a peek.

What do you notice or think when a man is wearing cologne?

  1. My husband always wears cologne. I think it shows he cares about looking and smelling good.

  2. Hubb wears cologne and I have always liked that he doesnt overdo it. I guess what I think is that most times the cologne matches their personality-spicy or fruity !

  3. I like it when my hubby wears men’s cologne because it makes him smell so sexy! (grrrrrrrrrrrrr)

  4. I think a man who wears cologne is very conscious of his appearance. He smells good- and sometimes the added bonus of looking good 😀

  5. As long as he isn’t wearing too much cologne, it tells me he cares about his hygiene and wants to feel attractive.
