Did you see that Amazon launched the Amazon Fire TV? I love my tech and gadgets and at a quick glance this one sure looks neat! I can’t decide where it would work better, in the living room or in the bedroom. Basically the Amazon Fire TV is a small box that you connect to your HDTV, much like an Apple TV or Roku. It allows you to watch Netflix, Amazon Prime Instant Video, Hulu Plus, low-cost movie rentals, and much more. The Amazon Fire TV has a retail price of $99. Here are the highlights, from the Amazon site.

- Massive selection—Over 200,000 TV episodes and movies, millions of songs, and over a hundred games
- Voice search that actually works—Simply say the name of what you want to watch and start enjoying in seconds. Show me
- Tiny box, huge specs—Fast quad-core processor, 2 GB of memory, dedicated GPU, plus 1080p HD video and Dolby Digital Plus surround sound
- Easy to set up and use—Pre-registered to your Amazon account so you can enjoy favorite titles and personalized recommendations
- Instant streaming—Exclusive new feature ASAP predicts what movies and TV episodes you’ll want to watch and buffers them for playback before you hit play
- Perfect for parents—Amazon FreeTime lets you easily limit screen time and create personalized profiles just for kids (coming soon)
- Great for gaming, too—Play blockbuster titles like Minecraft-Pocket Edition, The Walking Dead, and Monsters University, plus free games and Amazon exclusives. Paid games start from just 99 cents

I see that game developers are already jumping on board. Independent developer Jackbox Games today announced that two of the studio’s games – YOU DON’T KNOW JACK Party and the all-new Fibbage™ will launch on Amazon Fire TV. I remember You don’t Know Jack from my days in computer sales, it was one of the hottest software programs I ever sold.
YOU DON’T KNOW JACK Party is the first game specifically created for the party play genre. It’s the comedy trivia game where HIGH CULTURE and POP CULTURE collide. Covering everything from spaghetti to Yeti, from the Tooth Fairy to the Staten Island ferry, and from sharks to sharts, YOU DON’T KNOW JACK is the only trivia game that makes you laugh and think at the same time. And sometimes vomit a little.
Fibbage is the studio’s newest, comedy-laced trivia party game. Up to 8 players can play together on their TV simply by using their mobile phones or tablets as controllers. The game challenges players to fool their friends with lies, avoid selecting their friends’ lies, and find the (usually outrageous) truths to some very unusual facts. Each game of Fibbage is seven questions long and includes specialty questions such as Celebrity Tweets and Road Trip. And of course, the game culminates with a high-stakes final question: The Final Fibbage. Fibbage offers a free version featuring a handful of starter questions as well as a paid upgrade to full Fibbage to get hours and hours of game-party material. Additional content as DLC is planned in the near future.
Both games use mobile devices as controllers, eliminating a major friction point for live gameplay with big groups.

Hmm not sure! I am cheap and right now Netflix is what I use or youtube. I have one of those D-Link boxes. I even cut the cable bill out!
Whew-Amazon is really taking over-(talk Monopoly here)-first the world of books–now TV. I do not watch TV hardly at all and I do not play games except Bejeweled on Facebook so this probably would not be something I would need or want. I don’t even have the electronics to make it work!!! However I can see how this will take off like a shot for those that game or watch TV.
What is the big difference between Amazon Fire and premium FIOS TV?
Wow this is exciting! Will def be checking this out asap!
