I’ve mentioned before how much I enjoy hidden object games. They are definitely a favorite. In January Big Fish introduced a new PC game called Midnight Castle. Almost instantly the game became a fan fave, with players averaging over 70 minutes of gameplay per day. Big Fish was so thrilled with the response from fans that today they released the game to iPad.
The folks at Big Fish offered me the opportunity to check out the game. I’m swamped with midterms and some other things this week, but every time I open up our iPad I get the urge to play. The game sounds really interesting and I’ll be checking it out for sure as soon as possible after I finish exams. In the meantime, here’s an overview of the game (courtesy Big Fish) that’s players everywhere are falling in love with. Midnight Castle is a beautiful mystery adventure set on a magical estate inherited from your eccentric uncle, but it comes with some deep dark secrets. Developed by Elephant Games, this adventure takes you on a quest to find the Mystery Chamber. Along the way, you will play hidden object scenes, gather gold and meet interesting characters and creatures.
You start your quest by exploring you newly inherited beautiful estate. You quickly learn that you are not its only occupant. The castle is home to many enigmatic individuals, each possessing skills and knowledge beyond that of a mere mortal. More importantly, each individual holds the information that can lead you to understanding your uncle’s fate…but they aren’t going to give it up easily! You must search through beautiful hidden object scenes to find the quest items needed by each castle occupant. If you are successful, the occupants will reward you with gold and important artifacts that will allow you to gain entry to the Mystery Chamber.
Gold is important on the castle grounds! Use your gold to unlock additional game scenes or areas of interest. You can even sell items you find to earn more gold. However you decide to spend your gold, be sure to spend it wisely!
Should you find yourself short on gold or unable to find the artifacts needed for your quest, try your luck at the Fortune Wheel or a game of dice against the ‘Grim Dealer’. You can even accept an order to help fill the cargo hold of the Airship Traders who often frequent the estate.
Not all quest items are so easy to find. In fact, some of them must be made. Fortunately, you have access to the castle laboratory in which you can craft smaller items into the more powerful artifacts you seek on your quests. However, crafting is no easy task and for this you will need the help of the castle residents.
Searching for quest items can be a busy task, and if you’re lucky you may get some help! Throughout your explorations you will encounter whimsical enchanted beasts that, should you choose to care for them, will become your pets and aid you in your explorations. Each pet is unique, with special needs and treasure hunting abilities, so be sure to care for as many as you can!
Finally, invite your friends to play Midnight Castle and gift each other the necessary Gold, Gems or items you’ll need to complete each exciting quest.

The Midnight Castle iPad Sweepstakes launched early today March 20. To enter to win the iPad Mini, Facebook users will need to visit the Midnight Castle Facebook page. They’ll the need to find and comment on the Midnight Castle iPad Sweepstakes post with the phrase “I love Midnight Castle!” The sweepstakes will end at 11:59pm on Wed. March 26th, at which time a winner will be chosen at random.

I love this game! It’s so much fun, with the mystery storyline. I love that it’s more than just a hidden object game, that you have so many cool tasks to do.
Looks like a fun game. I hope they aren’t going the route of in-app purchases just to be able to proceed.
