Do you have cats? I am a cat person. If you’ve been reading for a while you may recall that I currently have two cats, a Himalayan named Romeo and a Siamese named Jules. Jules fur isn’t super short, but it isn’t nearly as long as Romeo’s fur. Jules almost never gets hairballs. Romeo, on the other hand, seems to get hairballs every two days or so. Man are they disgusting!
A hairball is undigested fur that accumulates in the stomach. I always marvel at the fact that the hairball looks nothing like my cat’s fur, it sort of looks like a piece of poop. I always hate seeing Romeo cough up a hairball, for a couple of reasons. First because it’s clearly not the most comfortable thing for him to be doing. Second, the awful noise that accompanies it. Third, the mess. I have no idea how a ball of hair can be so messy. I told hubby that I really think that it would be a good thing for us to get a carpet cleaner. They’re gross!
I’ve always bathed my cats. I didn’t get Romeo as a kitten. After getting him I tried giving him a bath. It was awful, he got super upset and scratched me all up. I’d love to have him groomed but I’m even nervous about taking him to a groomer. I see that there are hairball cat foods out there. I haven’t tried any but am considering it.
