MY THOUGHTS
I received copies of That’s Strange, But True and Zoo 3D for review. My daughter is quite fascinated with facts: animal facts, people facts, odd facts, places facts, etc. She thoroughly enjoys reading things like Discovery Kids books and National Geographic Kids magazines. These are sure to fit right into her collection.
That’s Strange, But True takes kids on a journey through all sorts of the world’s strangest facts and records. The book is divided into categories of interesting facts, like those about plants and animals, inventions, sports and contests, body feats, and science and technology. Kids can even search for specific items using the index located in the back of the book. The great thing about this book is that it seems like something kids of a large age range can enjoy – as soon as they begin reading up to early teenage years. With 176 pages, there certainly are many facts to learn and keep themselves entertained with.
Zoo 3D is geared more toward a younger audience; I would suggest to about age 10. The book contains some interesting animal facts, but it is more about the pictures that feature animals popping out on every page once you wear your 3D glasses included with the book. (It even features an extra pair for a friend!) This book is the perfect mix of entertainment and education, giving kids short, one-paragraph snippets about each animal. The animals are brought to life with the 3D glasses, giving kids a unique look at animals they most likely would not see otherwise.
TIME for Kids does the same of kids that TIME does for adults – teaches and entertains while giving a new outlook on things around the world, in a kid-friendly fashion of course.
