When do you start Christmas shopping? My Mom shops year round. I can never think a year ahead what someone might want in a year. I start thinking about Christmas gifts towards the end of summer. I generally try to start shopping somewhere around September. Every year I have the same plan – I’ll buy one gift per week. Every year a wrench is thrown into the works and my plan just doesn’t happen. I’m about half way done with my shopping this year, and am about one week ahead of my usual schedule. We are a cash only house, so we can only buy things we can actually pay for.
This year I’m having a hard time thinking of what to get my Dad. (Again.) I always have a hard time figuring out what to get him. The man has everything, there’s isn’t much that he wants for and probably even less that he needs. The other day I decided to take a walk through some local stores trying to find things he might like. I looked at all sorts of things in every department and didn’t come any closer to finding a solution to the problem of what to get him. I did, however, see lots of christmas trees for decoration, along with some really nice Christmas decorations that I’d love to get for myself. Anyway. Back to my Dad. What do you get the man that has everything?

  1. This year hubby and Iagreed prior to our anniversaries, birthdays, and Christmas to buy one big gift for the two of us–a good DSLR. Bought and used, I do not have to plan until 2013.

  2. Gosh, dads are always the hardest to buy for aren’t they?? When in doubt, I like to go for practical stuff like food or household items. It becomes a really cute present if you make your own gift basket. 🙂

  3. Hubby and I have what we need, we like gift to a local family in need, we have fun shopping for the age groups in the family we adopt.
