When The Clock Struck Midnight

Lately our house has been pretty quiet at night, as quiet as a mouse you might say. Until last night about midnight. Jules was in the kitchen making a commotion. Nothing was obviously wrong in the kitchen so I went to bed. This morning, it happened again in front of my husband. But today something did happen. As it turned out, Jules had caught a little visitor. About time he got to work! Things had been quiet lately, I was thinking they were gone. Now we have to figure out where this one came from. We think there’s a gap in the cabinets somewhere. Finding it is probably going to be difficult. If I had my way I’d just tear the kitchen apart and start over.
As I’ve mentioned before, I’d really like to update my kitchen. My house is more than 40 years old. Some if the things in the house are pretty outdated. Some just aren’t my taste. We’ve started to accumulate things we want and need or the kitchen. My oven has been hung me problems for a while now. sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t, and when it does the calibration is off. Were planning on switching from separate oven and stove to one range. Then we want to create a small pantry where the oven will have been. We’re going to try and lean and lighten the existing cabinets because that’s all our teensy budget that we don’t have yet will allow. Perhaps one day well be able to replace them, maybe a future DIY project with rta kitchen cabinets or something. Something else we’d like to do is redo the countertop and backsplash. I’d really like to go with granite or marble if I could go with anything. Last is the floor. The lino in the kitchen is old and just looks gross. I’d really like to replace it with tile but we’ll see how that goes. We can’t afford to do any of this now, but it’s fun to dream sometimes, isn’t it?
