Recently I upgraded to Mac OS X Lion. The first thing that I noticed after upgrading is that I’d lost my scrollbars. I learned that in OS X Lion the scrollbars remain hidden until uncovered by use by default, a setting that I didn’t like and felt I would have a very hard time working under. I discovered after digging around that it is possible to change the default setup for the toolbars, so that the scrollbars are always visible. Here’s how you do it.
Go into your System Preferences (located in the Apple menu).
Click on General.
Where it says Show scroll bars, choose the option for always.
That’s it. You should now be able to see your scrollbars.
