I was rather amused to get an email from Courtney over at YouCanMakeThis.com asking me if I’d be willing to host a giveaway. You see, YouCanMakeThis.com offers shoppers a wide selection of downloadable instructions on how to work with everything from applique to wood, and how to do everything from make an apron to installing a zipper. When I read the name I immediately thought “craft site”. I am not kidding when I say I am not crafty and don’t know how to do anything related to sewing, knitting, embroidering, nothing. Cannot. Even. Sew. A. Button. I checked out the site and after seeing that the site is far more than just crafts I replied that I’d be happy to host the giveaway and asked if I could check out one of their downloads, a set of instructions on how to make the She Loves Me She Loves Me Not Bag.
Courtney sent an email containing the giveaway details. It was followed by two more emails – one containing the instructions on how to make the bag and one containing the template for the bag. I read through the directions on how to make the bag and I can truthfully say that other then one or two words in the names of the materials I was able to understand all of it. The directions were all clearly written in English and there was a color picture of each step. I didn’t realize I’d need a sewing machine to make the bag (see what I mean about not being crafty, I don’t know these things) so I cannot post pictures of my finished bag. But I can tell you if I ever get the opportunity to try making the bag I have confidence the directions will serve well. Anyway. Here’s the official scoop on YouCanMakeThis.com.
www.YouCanMakeThis.com was created by a mom who wanted to provide downloadable instructions on how to make just about anything from children’s boutique clothing and jewelry, to handbags, home decor and more. What makes the site unique is that these instructions are written by everyday moms who have an expertise in an area. They are written in a way that makes you feel you have a friend sitting right next to you, telling you what to do next. They all have detailed instructions and step-by-step full-color photos so even the most “craft-challenged” person can make these items for their homes and families.
