I love my truck but it’s not good on gas and I’m not comfortable driving half of the time because the heat, a/c and defrost all don’t work. The check engine light came on and I haven’t been able to pass motor vehicle inspection in two years. I cannot afford the repairs – they are all labor intensive, therefore expensive. The ticket for failure to make repairs is usually a little of $100 and I’ve gotten two of them so far. I’d like to park the truck and only use it when we need to tow the camper or need something big.
While I’ve been up here on vacation I visited the place where we buy all of our cars. I’d asked the guy we’ve worked with for ten years now to run my credit. I wanted to get something used and in good shape that didn’t cost an arm and a leg. While an HD GPS would be nice, I wasn’t looking for anything fancy.
I had no money down and no cosigner and less than great credit but figured it was worth a try. The news wasn’t good. The bank wouldn’t give me a loan at this time. Once I’m working again I’m going to have to try to save a few bucks to put down, plus I’m going to have to do something to try and strengthen my credit. So I’m stuck in the truck for now. I’m hoping we don’t have any days that are hot, humid, cold snowy or icy until I can get a car.

O for an honest mechanic and a simple to fix auto!
Ain’t that the truth!
